Family, friends of Laren Hall gather outside Civic Center demanding justice

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) – Family and friends of Laren Hall gather outside the Evansville Civic Center – demanding justice.

Hall was shot and killed earlier this month on west franklin street.

Holding signs and showing support for Laren Hall – they have one goal.

The last update from the Evansville Police Department said detectives are still investigating his death.

No one has been charged in his death.

Hall’s best friend, Austin Guinn-Azumah, believes he was murdered.

No legal actions have happened and Guinn-Azumah says that’s an injustice.

EPD officials are investigating the shooting as possible self-defense.

Sgt. Jason Cullum said this month, surveillance video shows an argument happened near Sportsman’s before gunshots were fired.

Indiana law allows you to protect yourself with deadly force in defense.

Cullum indicated that type of argument could be pursued.

“We want the offender to be processed and detained. We would like him to be before a judge. It doesn’t matter what felony it is, we want him to be arrested for something.”

Guinn-Azumah says he was there when Hall was shot. He said he doesn’t believe EPD calling it potential self-defense.

The Vanderburgh County Prosecutor doesn’t have the case file yet.
