Fiesta Acapulco employees remembered after fatal accident

STURGIS, Ky. (WEHT) – Four people who worked at Fiesta Acapulco Mexican restaurant in Sturgis died Saturday morning in Wheatcroft after their car hydroplaned, causing their vehicle to hit another.

Those inside the car were Eduardo Lopez, Jorge Chavez, Miguel Brico, and Christina Chavez.

The restaurant has been open for less than a week, and owner Heratio Joncalez says it has been hard to open their doors after the death of the employees, because they were like family to him.

Joncalez says there has been such excitement with the restaurant opening, especially because the group has known each other for so long and they were able to work together for the first time.

Now, with the four gone, current employees say it’s just not the same, but they are all strong and will move forward.

Employees at the restaurant are working with the families to help with funeral arrangements.
