Firefighters respond to house fire near downtown Evansville

Firefighters responded to a house fire near downtown Evansville on Wednesday night. Crews were called just before 9 p.m. to the 2200 block of W. Indiana St.

Crews say the fire started upstairs in a bedroom. Everyone made it out safely, but one pet rabbit died.

No one was hurt, but there is severely damage to the second floor of the house.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
