EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) – The Evansville Philharmonic is searching for a new conductor.
And one of the finalists is in town this week.
The public had a chance to meet Laura Jackson. She’s one of five finalists to replace Music Director Alfred Savia.
Savia will retire following the 2019-2020 season after more than 30 years with the Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra.
“You know the conductor serves as the face of the organization and you’re an artistic leader, you’re also a civic leader and you’re a partner. So, you partner with everyone – with other art institutions, educational institutions, community partners of all sorts. What you’re really trying to do is enrich the community and make it a better place to live.”
Jackson will take the stage this Saturday to conduct the orchestra at the Victory Theatre.
