Five people shot outside American Legion Post

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) — Five people were shot outside of the American Legion Post in Evansville just before 3 a.m. according to the Evansville Police Department.

Police say officers were near the area of the Legion on Chestnut Street when they heard gunshots and immediately responded to the scene.

The first officer on the scene was told the shooter was Keymo Johnson, 37. Officers spotted Johnson running from the scene and chased after him. Police say Johnson was taken into custody.

Johnson was arrested on charges of attempted murder, battery with a deadly weapon, possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon, resisting law enforcement and criminal mischief.
