EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) – Tri-State Food Bank held a food drive Friday at Eastland Mall, bringing in food to support communities in need.
In the first hour alone, the food drive collected more than three-thousand pounds of food.
The food drive collected items like pasta, peanut butter, and soup. Volunteers from the National Guard helped man the heavy influx of donations.
“Well things are very tough right now. The need has spiked. We probably have, in the Tristate area, close to 50,000 people who have fallen into food insecurity because of the Covid-19. So the need has really acelerated. We are working almost around the clock to supply food to our pantries and soup kitchens,” said Glenn Roberts, Tri-State Food Bank Executive Director.
The food drive will go directly to help Tri-Staters in need.
