EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT)- Former Indiana Lt. Governor, Dr. Sue Ellspermann will be the keynote speaker at the annual Athena Awards Luncheon in February.

Ellspermann served as then-Governor Mike Pence’s first Lt. Governor until her resignation in 2016. Since then, Ellspermann has served as the President of Ivy Tech Community College.

The Athena Awards, organized by the Southwest Indiana Chamber and A Network of Evansville Women, honor Tri-State area women and will be held February 28th at the Old National Events Plaza in Evansville.

The Athena Awards started in 1982 and have recognized nearly 6,000 people in more than 500 communities. The Southwest Indiana Chamber has hosted the Athena Awards since the 1990s.

The Awards recognize leaders in six different categories: executive of the year, rising star of the year, entrepreneur of the year, educator of the year, healthcare professional of the year, and non-profit professional of the year. Nominations for the awards will be accepted until January 30th and a link to the nomination forms can be found here.
