It was a high-profile incident between an Evansville firefighter and two police officers in the summer of 2013, but the lawsuit filed by George Madison, Jr. against the city is now finally resolved.
A $10,000 settlement has been reached between Madison, the city and two EPD officers.
The money will be donated to a local youth organization.
The donation will be made in the names of Madison and Officers Jasen Clegg and Darin Clifton to Youth Resources of Southwestern Indiana.
We’re told the money will comes from the city’s insurance fund.
The lawsuit stemmed from August 2013 when Madison was stopped and detained by the EPD officers while riding his bicycle.
Madison originally claimed he was stopped because of his race and that the officers used excessive force while detaining him.
