GIBSON COUNTY, Ind. (WEHT) – A Gibson County coal mine could close later this year.
Some media outlets are reporting Somerville Central Mine in Oakland City will close in October, which means 120 miners could be out of a job.
Eyewitness News reached out to the Indiana Department of Workforce Development.
Officials say they post WARN notices the same day the state office receives them. They say, at this time, the state has not received a WARN notice from mine officials.
In April, operations stopped at Liberty Mine in Warrick County, impacting around 80 jobs.
Somerville Mine is operated by Peabody Indiana Services LLC.
