Gibson County Coal announces permanent layoffs

Local News

GIBSON COUNTY, Ind. (WEHT) — Gibson County Coal (GCC) announced Tuesday they’re terminating the employment of approximately 117 employees at its complex in Owensville and RR#3 in Princeton.

According to general manager Chris Hopple, the separations of employment will occur April 26.

Hopple says the permanent layoffs are a result of unforseen business circumstances, including the COVID-19 pandemic.
