Gilda’s Club is celebrating five years in Evansville.
The organization held an open house “birthday party” from four to six Wednesday evening.
Gilda’s Club provides social, emotional and educational support to anyone impacted by cancer.
Visitors can enjoy homemade food and meet with friends, volunteers and board members.
Guests could also view a timeline of pictures and inspiration highlighting the impact Gilda’s Club has brought to our community over the last five years.
“We’re also known as a safe-haven. So being able to come here, when they walk in the door, they’re like “I had no idea.” Because it’s very homey as you can see and it’s set up that way on purpose so that what they’ve been a part of in the hospitals and stuff, they need that home environment.”
Gilda’s Club is 100% funded by the local community.
D-Patrick Ford will be donating $2,500 to the organization Thursday.
