DAVIESS COUNTY, Ky. (WEHT) – A Daviess County elementary school honors a student who passed away two years ago on what would’ve been her graduation from fifth grade.

Tamarack Elementary School honored Kalie Jo Stiles during their fifth-grade promotion ceremony Friday morning.

Stiles passed away two years ago after suffering a medical emergency at the school.

Kalie Jo’s friends and teachers gave her family her promotion certificate.

“I have tears of sadness and I have tears of joy too that they made her a part of this event.”

“I’m sure they all felt the same way I did, that I feel that she is still remembered and loved.”

Stiles’ family says they plan to frame the certificate they received in Kalie Jo’s memory.

Students honored Kalie Jo with an empty chair at the graduation ceremony.
