Greenville, Ky issues curfew

Local

GREENVILLE, Ky. (WEHT)- Greenville Mayor Jan Yonts signed an executive order Friday ordering a curfew in the city for anyone under the age of 18 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The curfew states that no one under the age of 18 is allowed in public between the hours of 8 PM and 6 AM, unless accompanied by a parent, going to work, or coming home from work.

The curfew takes effect immediately and will last either until Yonts determines “the need for a curfew no longer exists” or the conclusion of the state of emergency in Kentucky.

The decision comes after nearby Hopkins County issued a similar curfew Thursday. There are currently 14 confirmed COVID-19 cases in Muhlenberg County, where Greenville is located.
