Handcuffed suspect tries to steal EPD car, crashes at Deaconess

The Evansville Police Department says a handcuffed prisoner tried to steal a patrol car at Deaconess Midtown on Thursday night.

EPD says it happened as officers were transferring another prisoner from the same car to the transport van.

The remaining prisoner climbed into the front seat and put the car in gear.

The car went about 100 yards before crashing onto the hospital helicopter pad.

The prisoner was captured at the crash scene. She had minor injuries.

No other cars or people were involved.
