Harmony Way Bridge attempt to reopen with new owners

CARMI, Ill (WEHT)- The New Harmony Bridge commonly known as the Harmony Way Bridge has new owners.

The Indiana New Harmony and Wabash River Authority and Illinois New Harmony river bridge authority have received joint ownership.

The transaction was made last week by the White County Bridge Commission. The commission was a private entity and was not eligible to apply for state or federal grants to rehabilitate the bridge.

The two new authorities were established in an attempt to reopen the bridge which has been closed since 2012.
