One Owensboro organization hosted a unique party Sunday, and even though there was no candy, it was still “hoot..”
It was the 3rd annual Owl-O-Ween at the Joe Ford Nature Center. A chance for kids to learn about animals that go hand-in-hand with Halloween.
Featuring two species of owls, a corn snake, a gecko and a very shy tarantula.
Program director Adrienne Allen says she thinks it’s the best treat for kids to receive.
“It’s really cool to allow opportunities for kids to still celebrate Halloween, but not give out candy and the prizes, and just bring people in and teach them about nature. I hope that it’s a once in a lifetime opportunity for them, and that they’ll go away remembering what they learned and not something that they would’ve gotten.”
Allen says she’d like to feature other animals in future Owl-O-Ween parties.
