Helfrich Park Middle School band to play at development conference in Fort Wayne

Local News

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) — Instead of heading to class on Thursday morning, dozens of Helfrich Park STEM Academy students are waking up – and gearing up — for a trip of a lifetime.

Over 70 Helfrich Park Band students have been selected to play for the Indiana Music Education Association’s Professional Development Conference in Fort Wayne on Friday.

This is the first time an EVSC Middle School band will perform at the conference.

The last EVSC band to perform at the event was Reitz High School in 1991.

Superintendent Dr. David Smith will also conduct one of the seven pieces that the Varsity Band will play at the conference.
