Henderson City Commission to vote on increasing payroll tax

HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – The Henderson City Commission is meeting to vote on increasing payroll and net profit taxes by 0.2%.

The increase would go into effect on January 1, 2020.

According to memos by city leaders, the payroll portion will increase from 1.29% to 1.49%.

Now, this isn’t the first time the payroll has been increased.

Earlier this year, the City of Henderson continued their trend of leaving property taxes alone and relying on occupational taxes to bring in additional income.

According to the memos, if the increase is approved it would generate an additional $1.42 million dollars over a full year.

Also, on the agenda are potential health insurance changes for employees in the City of Henderson, which would decrease the HRA contribution for employee-plus-one coverage from $1000 to $750.

We will continue to update this story throughout the night.
