Henderson City Parks Department planting tree for Arbor Day

HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) East End Park will get a new Autumn Blaze Maple Tree, when the City of Henderson celebrates Arbor Day 2019.

The celebration is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. on Friday, near the Spray Park.

East End Park is located at the corner of Helm and Letcher streets in Henderson’s East End.

Winners in the Kindergarten-3rd Grade Arbor Day Coloring Contest will be announced along with winners in an essay contest for 4th and 5th graders.

The City of Henderson is the recipient of the Tree City USA designation from the Kentucky Divisions of Forestry for the 24th consecutive year.

The Arbor Day Foundation in cooperation with the National Association of State Foresters and the USDA Forest Service sponsors the Tree City USA program.

Tree City USA recognizes communities that have proven their commitment to an effective, ongoing community forestry program.
