Henderson Fire Department responds to downtown building fire

The Henderson Fire Department has responded to a fire at a downtown building near the courthouse.

Crews arrived at a cluster of buildings in the 300 block of First Street around 6:00 a.m. The building where the fire was extinguished by HFD, sits across the street from Tomblinson Funeral Home.

Firefighters said flames spread from the second floor of a building laterally into other apartments. The apartments sit above businesses in some instances.

Firefighters believe the fire started on the second floor of a building that may have not been occupied. No one has been injured.
