Henderson first responders receive lifesaving equipment

Local

HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) — The Henderson City County Rescue Squad now has new lifesaving equipment all thanks to the Gary Sinise Foundation.

The donation of more than $50,000 worth of equipment includes a tool known as the jaws of life, which helps first responders during car accidents.

Other items included airbags used to lift items such as cars off victims trapped underneath.

This is the biggest donation the foundation has given this year.

“It’s awesome. 3-4 years of budgeting just to be able to purchase what we got today in one lump sum its phenomenal. Our guys are excited. We hope we never have to use it but other than training, but we got it now.”

The Gary Sinise Foundation was started by the actor. It honors veterans, first responders, their families and those in need.
