Henderson leaders working on ordinance for solar energy

Local News

HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – Henderson leaders want to add solar energy to city and county resources.

But first – officials need paperwork to regulate it.

The Henderson Planning Commission is working to complete an ordinance to give rules for solar farms.

Planning Commission Director Brian Bishop is looking at set-back requirements and ways to maximize land use.

He says several companies have shown interest in building solar farms in the county.

“We also have to find ways to protect the neighbors, because these are things that are considered structures. You get to things like being close to property lines, close to roads, you know, screening and security.”

Bishop expects to have an ordinance for the planning commission in November.

The meeting will have a public hearing for feedback from neighbors.
