HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – People with the Salvation Army in Henderson spent the day preparing thanksgiving meals.
The community Thanksgiving meal from 11 to 12:30 is expected to serve around 500 people Thursday.
Officials with the Salvation Army say they have been preparing for a couple of months to get turkey, ham and pie donations.
“We are so excited just to be able to open our doors to individuals in our community maybe that don’t have family that they can eat with, or maybe they just want to go hang out with people who may be less fortunate. So, this is just a new avenue that the salvation army is opening for individuals in our community to come and have family outside of their own family.”
He says the goal is to get every seat filled at least once. They will serve food until it’s all gone.
