Highland Elementary School is partnering with Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation to support two second-grade students who have Type 1 diabetes.

Students and staff members are invited to wear their favorite cap to school on Friday, May 6.

“Caps for a Cure” is designed on behalf of Macy Roberts and Brennan Faught and their support teams, Macy’s Squad and Brennan’s Dojang.

Highland Elementary School is also accepting donations for Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, which is the leading global organization funding Type 1 diabetes research, according to its website.

Type 1 diabetes causes a person’s body to stop producing insulin, a hormone that provides energy to the body.

Approximately 200,000 children in the U.S. have been diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes, which can strike people of any age.

The foundation’s goal is to “turn Type One into Type None.”

For more information or to make a donation, contact Highland Elementary School assistant principal Carrie Munsey at 270-852-7370 or email carrie.munsey@daviess.kyschools.us
