Homeowner, who police say shot suspected burglar, could face federal charges

An Evansville man could face federal charges after police said he shot and killed a burglar at his home.

Rickey Boyd, 46, believes the shooting was justified.

He told police he shot a man Saturday afternoon trying to break into his home.

During the investigation, police said they found evidence of drug dealing inside, including a half pound of marijuana in Boyd's car.

Boyd was arrested on drug charges.

Police said Boyd is on federal probation from a drug conviction in Texas.

Evansville police are still investigating and could file more charges related to the burglary.
