Eighty-five local veterans got the trip of a lifetime through Honor Flight of Southern Indiana.
Veterans from the Vietnam War, Korean War, and even World War II boarded a flight Saturday morning to fly to Washington DC.
The group experienced days worth of sight-seeing in one day. The veterans toured the World War II Memorial, Korean War Memorial, and the Vietnam War Memorial. They also saw the changing of the guards at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
All of the veterans were welcomed back to Evansville with a welcome back parade. Hundreds of people came out to Evansville Regional Airport to thank them for their service.
We will have much more on the Honor Flight journey Sunday on Eyewitness News.
