Housing developer plans to build dozens of apartments in Madisonville

MADISONVILLE, Ky. (WEHT) – A Missouri-based housing developer plans to build dozens of apartments in Madisonville.

Officials with Bywater Development Group say they’re working on a new complex with 52 apartments set to be called Wiman Gardens.

They plan to build it near the intersection of West Noel and Wiman Drive.

The site must be rezoned from medium density to high density before it’s built.

Aaron Burnett, of Bywater Development, says studies show there’s a need for more affordable housing in the Madisonville area as the city works to add more jobs.

“Certainly, there is a demonstrable need for the proposed housing of this type. We hope it becomes a stabilizing type of development in the immediate area where its located.”

Developers say if rezoning is approved, construction could start as soon as later summer.
