EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) – An Evansville man is renting out a park setting to celebrate his wife.
Jennifer King lost the battle to metastatic breast cancer earlier this week.
She was a fierce advocate for those fighting the disease.
Her last wishes were for her family to not have a funeral.
Her husband Shawn King is honoring her life in a very special way.
Shawn is inviting friends and family of Jennifer to come to the FOP Campgrounds to celebrate her life with a fair.
Throughout the park, there will be stations dedicated to her favorite activities, including a theater screen playing her favorite films, a photo booth with her favorite chair, a slide show, and even a station to play a custom-made Candy Crush game made specifically in Jennifer’s honor.
Shawn said he talked with his wife before she passed away and knew a Celebration of Life, rather than a funeral, is what she would have wanted.
Shawn said his wife loved boating and he plans to take out the boat and scatter her ashes in one of her favorite coves.
Saturday night, friends, family, and those inspired by Jennifer will be releasing lanterns into the lake with special messages for her.
