Ilinois lawmaker introduces a new act to help DCFS with adoption

Local News

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WCIA) -Lawmakers say correcting some of the issues in the agency is a layered issue but they want to start by examining the agencies’ policies on adoption.

The group of lawmakers introduced the AJ Freund Act. AJ was a 5-year-old boy from Crystal lake whose parents pleaded guilty to beating him to death.

The act would give law enforcement the ability to investigate any allegations of child abuse or neglect instead of giving the power solely to DCFS.
