SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (ABC) — The Illinois Reproductive Health Act would establish reproductive health, including abortion, as a fundamental right.

The bill is on its way to the Illinois House of Representatives, after passing out of committee on Sunday night.

The bill would remove restrictions, allowing abortions later in pregnancy.

It would also expand insurance coverage for procedures and contraception.

If passed by the House, the Illinois State Senate would still need to pass the bill before it would head to the governor’s desk.
