SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WEHT)- Illinois governor, JB Pritzker issued over 11,000 pardons for individuals with low level cannabis convictions ahead of marijuana legalization in the state Wednesday.

Individuals from 92 of the state’s 102 counties were pardoned today. While marijuana is legal in Illinois, the drug remains illegal on the federal level and in Indiana and Kentucky and cannot be taken across state lines.
