Illinois man unable to drive new truck due to DMV locations being closed

Local News

GRAYVILLE, Ill. (WEHT) – An Illinois man couldn’t wait to drive his new truck when he purchased it, but due to the ongoing pandemic, the vehicle has been sitting in his driveway for over a month.

Jerry Horton bought a truck off another individual, but wasn’t able to transfer the title in his name due to the DMV locations being closed.

He reached out to the state police on the matter and they told him that he wouldn’t be able to drive it until the DMV reopen. Horton says he is now making payments on a truck he can’t use.

“I went down to Walmart and got my fishing license no problem, but as far as getting your license on a new truck that you bought from another person,” Horton said. “If I bought it from a dealer, it wouldn’t have been no problem, they could’ve gave me a temporary tag. But if you buy off an individual, well you’re just going to have to wait for the DMV to open.”
