Illinois Senate passes graduated income tax

Local News

The Illinois Senate passed a graduated income tax.

It would replace the state’s 4.95% flat tax and charge higher rates for wealthier taxpayers.

Governor JB Pritzker says 97% of taxpayers would see no tax increases.

The measure now goes to the House for a vote.

If it passes, it would still need voter approval during the 2020 election.
