INDIANAPOLIS (WEHT) — On Monday morning, Indiana State Department of Health Commissioner Kris Box and Indiana Family & Social Services Administration Secretary Jennifer Walthall will unveil a new state approach to reducing smoking in Indiana.
Tobacco use is the single most preventable cause of death and disease in Indiana and substantially contributes to maternal and infant mortality.
Yet, with those statistics, nearly 22% of Indiana adults still choose to smoke, including more than 13% of pregnant women.
The smoking cessation announcement will take place Monday morning at Eskenazi Health West, located at 5515 W. 38th Street in Indianapolis.
Eyewitness News is following the announcement, and will share the details later today after the statement is made
