A beloved pet prompted the purchase of a Scratch-off ticket that was a $90,000 winner for a Kendallville, Indiana man.

Michael Young bought a $5 Ruby Mine 9X Scratch-off, because his dog’s name was Ruby.

The 14-year-old Labrador retriever had recently passed away.

Michael scratched the ticket before arriving home, revealing a $90,000 top prize winner.

“I just couldn’t believe it,” he said. “I definitely looked at it more than once.”

Michael waited until his wife arrived home to tell her.

When she saw him, she thought something was wrong, based on how he was acting, but was happily surprised by the wonderful news.

The couple plans to pay off their home mortgage and use the rest of their prize money on retirement.
