Indiana Secretary of Commerce toured Evansville with Mayor Lloyd Winnecke.
Jim Schellinger and other city leaders drove around downtown on a trolley. They highlighted major work happening at Signature School, the YMCA, and the downtown medical campus.
Schellinger said he’s proud to see Evansville committed to attracting young talent to live and work.
Regional Cities money has accounted for about $975 million in new investments in the region.
“The fact you were awarded one of the key regional cities grants is exciting. All the projects that are going on, the medical school, the casino, the hotel, I miss The Executive — but not a lot. It’s great to have all the things that are happening down here.”
Schellinger wants to fuel the growth of Indiana. He says only 17% of the state is developed, with the rest covered in forest and agriculture.
