Indiana sends hemp plan to USDA

(WEHT)- The Indiana State Department of Agriculture submitted a plan for industrial hemp to the USDA for review. This comes after President Trump signed the 2019 Farm Bill, which allowed states to implement a hemp program under the supervision of the USDA.

The USDA now has 60 days to review the plan. Hemp comes from the same plant as marijuana but contains less of the psychoactive compound found in marijuana. In other words, you cannot get high off hemp.

Marijuana is still illegal to grow in Indiana.
