INDOT holds meeting on Gibson County sidewalk project

Local News

The Indiana Department of Transportation held a meeting Wednesday night in Gibson County.
The purpose of the public meeting was to talk about a $3.2 million road and sidewalk project.
The orginal road and sidewalks have been there since 1930 according to INDOT.
State Road 64 would be repaved and resurfaced through the entire town of Francisco.
Neighbors in the area are excited for change.

“These sidewalks are very torn up and they have been. We’re looking forward to new sidewalks and people being able to come and go,” said Trish Gray.

The project would bring new curbs and handicap accessible sidewalks.
State Road 64 would be widened with four foot shoulders, new storm drains and water pipes.
If everything goes as planned, construction would start in spring of 2021.
