OAKLAND CITY, Ind. (WEHT) – The Indiana Department of Transportation officially opened a new maintenance facility in southern Indiana to serve Pike and Gibson counties.
State and local lawmakers were on hand to help cut the ribbon on the building in Oakland City.
INDOT invested more than $4 million for the project.
It replaces an outdated facility in Petersburg.
INDOT will dispatch salt trucks from this location during the winter.
State Representative Matt Hostettler (R-Fort Branch) said this is great for the local community.
INDOT said the new location is closer to the interstate than the Petersburg facility, which will allow crews to get on the road faster.
