(WEHT)- INDOT has unveiled improvement plans for an intersection many in the community say is too dangerous. The purpose of the latest possible road changes in store for the intersection at State Road 66 and Orchard Road in Rockport is two-fold:
- To increase the capacity of the intersection.
- improve drainage.
The proposal includes lanes on 66 with the dedicated turn lanes onto Orchard Road on both sides. Several pipes would also be replaced and a new curb and gutter with a storm sewer would be installed. Work would take place during the summer of 2021. In 2017 INDOT proposed a roundabout which the community rejected.
