Investigation underway after trailer reported stolen

CARMI, Ill. (WEHT) – An investigation is underway for a reported stolen trailer in Carmi.

The theft happened Thursday morning at the new Subway worksite along College Blvd.

According to Carmi Police, a man reported one of his trailers had been stolen from a worksite. They said the workers arrived at the site, then called to report the missing trailer.

The trailer was parked on College Blvd. just south of Main St.

A complaint was filed for the theft.

The trailer is a 2001 U.S. Cargo box trailer. The VIN is 4X4UTS4201W003772. The license plate number is unknown at this time.

Police checked surveillance video at CWC High School and say video shows a dark blue Chevy Silverado pull onto College Blvd. just before 6:30AM.

A few minutes later, police say the pickup truck can be seen driving east on Main St. with the trailer attached to it.

Other business’s surveillance video shows the truck driving across the Little Wabash Bridge into East Carmi and continuing northbound on Route 1 through Crossville.

Officers with the Grayville Police Department have been notified about the theft and will be checking surveillance video in Grayville to see if the truck continued on Rt. 1 or turned off before then.
