Investigators Find Cause of Weekend Fire in Huntingburg

Investigators say they have found the cause of a weekend fire in Huntingburg that sent the homeowner to the hospital.

Our media partner News Now Dubois County reports the fire at a home on W IN 64 was started because someone put hot embers in a plastic trashcan in the garage.

Investigators say the homeowner had a party on Saturday night and when he was cleaning up, he put the hot embers in the trash can.

The fire started Sunday afternoon – causing significant damage to the garage and the two cars in it.

The homeowner is being treated for burns at a hospital in Louisville.
