IOSHA fines Waupaca Foundry

TELL CITY, Ind. (WEHT) — The Indiana Occupational Safety and Health Administration (IOSHA) has fined a Perry County company after four employees were hurt in February.

IOSHA fined the Waupaca Foundry $5,000 and says the company did not maintain reasonably safe conditions for employees. IOSHA also says Waupaca did not notify them within 24 hours that an employee was taken to the hospital.

IOSHA says since then, the safety issue was rectified.

The report says the injuries occurred when other elements mixed with molten cast iron, causing a exothermic reaction.
