Jail Overcrowding Issue Heads to the IN Statehouse

The issue of overcrowded county jails heads to the Indiana Statehouse as Vanderburgh County Sheriff Dave Wedding looks to lawmakers for help.

Sheriff Wedding met with several local state reps and state senators on Thursday as well at Lt. Governor Suzanne Crouch.

Wedding wants the state to form a jail study committee to address the issue.

Wedding has previously said his jail houses hundreds of more inmates than it should, and this is a problem happening across the state.

The sheriff hopes a committee can work towards a solution.
