Jury reaches guilty verdict in Warrick County baby death trial

BOONVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) – A jury has reached a guilty verdict in the trial of Thaddious Rice.

The Warrick County Prosecutor’s Office confirms the jury found Rice guilty of reckless homicide and neglect of a dependent causing death.

Rice will be sentenced on April 3.

Rice was intially facing charges of murder and neglect of a dependent.

Warrick County deputies said a baby suffered a fatal head injury in April 2017 at a Newburgh apartment.

The 10-month-old died at the hospital.

Authorities said Rice is not the child’s father but was dating the child’s mother at the time of its death.
