Kentucky AG secures millions in settlement over alleged price gouging

Local News

KENTUCKY (WEHT) – Kentucky’s Attorney General has secured more than $22 million in a settlement over alleged price gouging.

Andy Beshear settled a 12-year-old lawsuit against Marathon Petroleum Company and Speedway, LLC.

The settlement claims that both companies violated Kentucky’s Consumer Protection Act by price gouging in the wake of hurricane Katrina.

Half of the agreed payment is due within 20 days of the settlement becoming effective.

The remainder will repaid annually in two equal installments.
