‘Kentucky Can’ Campaign impacts local counties

Local News

HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – A $2.1 billion campaign launched by the University of Kentucky reaches beyond the campus to impact counties across the state, including Henderson County.

The Kentucky Can Campaign was launched in September 2018.

The Vice President for Philanthropy and Alumni Engagement visited Henderson to talk about the school’s relationship with Henderson.

He says there are multiple goals of the campaign, including scholarships for local students and providing funding for Dementia and Alzheimer’s research.

“We’ve just expanded our College of Medicine outreach to Bowling Green, Kentucky. We’ve just opened up an outreach medical school there. Several students from this part of the state have been accepted into first year class. Our goal is they will not only get educated here but will remain here and serve the people of these districts and these counties.”

The school also received a $87 million grant to study opioid addiction and to reduce addiction in some pilot counties.
