Knox Co. Man Charged for Animal Neglect

Local News

A gruesome discovery leads to a case of alleged animal cruelty. The Knox County Sheriff’s Department arrested 58-year-old Gary Dunt.

11 dogs were rescued from a property in Bruceville living in what investigators called filthy conditions. The sheriffs department found five dogs dead.

The Vincennes Animal Shelter says this is the worst case of animal neglect Knox County has ever seen.

“They were living in a filth that I’ve never seen before,” said Animal Control Director Laura Arial. “There was about two inches of feces throughout the entire house and and then tons of debris.”

Dunt faces abandonment and neglect of an animal, harboring a non-immunized dog, and cruelty to an animal.

The dogs should be ready for adoption in the upcoming weeks.
