Kentucky State Police have a fifth man in custody in connection with the killing of a police officer this week.

Pikeville Officer Scotty Hamilton was shot and killed Tuesday night.

Thursday morning, KSP announced the arrest of 55-year-old John Russell Hall.

He was wanted for questioning in Hamilton’s death.

He’s also wanted for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Officer Hamilton was a 12-year veteran of the Pikeville Police Department.

Hundreds of people lined the streets of downtown Pikeville Wednesday to pay their respects as his body was moved.

According to investigators, Hamilton was assisting a state trooper in an investigation when he was shot after the two became separated.

Four people are also already in custody.
