MUHLENBERG COUNTY, Ky. (WEHT) New information tonight on a murder investigation in Muhlenberg County, where a man is accused of killing his son.

George Rudy Cundiff, 70, is charged with murder for the shooting death of his son, 42-year-old Christoper Seth Cundiff.

Kentucky State Police say this all started just after 5:20 PM Sunday when George and Christopher got into an argument, which led George to shoot him.

It happened on the 3000 block of State Route 176, just east of Greenville. Court records show that George Cundiff was holding a gun in his right hand during the altercation, and then shot his son once in the chest. Trooper Rob Austin with the Kentucky State Police says detectives are still trying to figure out what led to the argument.

“Right now, they are looking in to that. Detectives have been doing interviews. They did interviews for several hours last night and they’re getting to the bottom of that,” says Trooper Austin.

Christopher was taken to the hospital, where he later died of his injury. Trooper Austin says he’s unaware if there were any past incidents at the home. George was scheduled to be arraigned on the murder charge today. Meanwhile, detectives will talk with others in and outside the family as their investigation continues.

“They’ll be doing neighborhood interviews. They will do neighborhood canvass. They’ll be trying to see if anyone has other information about this incident, see if there was any kind of word or that that led up to this,” he says.

One person who knew Christopher, who declined to be on camera, told us he described the victim as easy going and an outdoorsman.
